Blues capture Barnes for a month

Michael Barnes

Michael Barnes, a player of the Man Utd Reserves, has officially joined Shrewsbury Town on a one-month’s loan. Barnes has only featured in one first-team match, in the Carling Cup against Crewe Alexandra, earlier this season. He has been at Man Utd since 2005. It is very likely that the young English lad will be released at the end of this season, so the Shrewsbury boss decided to bring him early to the League Two club, so they would find it easier to sign him next summer.

Paul Simpson - Shrewsbury manager

Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson was delighted to have captured the young player from Manchester United. He will be played regularly in this month, so the club can analyse if he is the kind of player that they need to improve their squad. Simpson said:

“He’s an exciting player with the sort of pace I think we’re lacking a bit. He can play wide on the left or right, and if he’s what we’re looking for we’ll try to do a deal in the summer.”
