Boyd joins Boro!

Rangers striker Kris Boyd has signed for Championship side Middlesbrough on a 2-year deal.

The 26-year-old netted an impressive 101 league goals in 143 games for the Gers. Boyd also won 2 league championships in his final 2 years at Ibrox.

In January 2006, Boyd joined Rangers from Kilmarnock for £500,000 and immediately made an impact in Alex McLeish’s failing side with 20 goals in just 17 starts. Under Paul Le Guen, Boyd lead the line in Europe with three European goals in the UEFA Cup campaign. However, the league would be a major failure for the French manager and he was replaced by Walter Smith in January 2007. Boyd was a key part of Smith’s first 6 months and netted his 100th SPL goal against Celtic in May 2007. The Ayrshire-born striker then fell away in the 2007-2008 season as Rangers reached the UEFA Cup Final without Boyd and were chasing four trophies towards the end of the season. In the League Cup final, Boyd dug Rangers out a hole against Dundee United, equalising twice and scoring the winning penalty in the shootout. He also netted twice in the Scottish Cup final against Queen of the South and overall scored 25 goals in all competitions that season. In 2008-2009, Boyd would score a further 31 Rangers goals and secured a League and Scottish Cup double. His final season would also see a League Championship triumph and a League Cup win over St Mirren in March, he would score 26 goals last season.
