Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson is the next player to be targeted by Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan after the former Celtic manager brought Kris Boyd from Ibrox earlier in the week. Thomson would be one of a number of former Old Firm stars at the Riverside with Chris Killen, Scott McDonald, Willo Flood, Barry Robson and Kris Boyd plying their trade in the English Championship.

Manager Walter Smith confirmed “There has been an interest from Middlesbrough. So far we haven’t reached any agreement”. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Boro for the past week or two and the reported fee has been set around £2.7m with former Aberdeen and Hearts striker Lee Miller added to the deal.
Also at Murray Park, defender Jordan McMillan signed a new 2-year extension at Ibrox after impressing on loan at Queen of the South where he made 16 appearances. McMillan, who is 21, made his senior debut last season against Dundee in the Co-op Cup where Rangers ran out 3-1 winners.
