Wednesday night will see Harry Redknapp’s Spurs try to see out a 4-1 lead in the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final, as the team travel to Turf Moor. Burnley have beaten both Arsenal and Chelsea at their home ground on their path to the semi-finals, but Spurs hold a major advantage after coming back from 1-0 down to win by three goals in the first leg.
Team News
Ledley King (hamstring), Heurelho Gomes (thigh), Vedran Corluka (thigh), Aaron Lennon (groin) and Jermaine Jenas (calf) are all set to miss out after picking up injuries in recent weeks. Roman Pavlyuchenko was also stretchered off in Sunday’s match against Pompey, but is set to be in contention.
In this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Redknapp revealed two players that will definately start. Ben Alnwick in goal and David Bentley at right wing. Harry has already stated that he does not have a whole lot of confidence in Cesar Sanchez, and will give Bentley a final chance before probably making a decision in regards to his future at the Lane. So, this is the likely way Harry will line up:
Alnwick
Zokora Woodgate Dawson Assou-Ekotto
Bentley Huddlestone Modric O’Hara
Pav Defoe

Alnwickto be handed first-team debut
Although, given the comfortable lead going into the fixture, I would give a few “fringe” players a chance, and play:
Alnwick
Gunter Woodgate Dawson Bale
Bentley Huddlestone Modric Taarabt
Giovani
Campbell
Saying that, it is vital that the Spurs team go out and do a professional job, and also get on the front foot early. The crowd will play a big part in the game, and they will drive Burnley on if they get in the game at all.
My verdict: 1-1
