Cannavaro’s next target: World Cup

 Italy has had somewhat an unlucky welcome in Austria with the injury of captain Cannavaro

Despite suffering a major setback to this Summer’s involvement with the Italy squad in Austria and Switzerland, Fabio Cannavaro remained optimistic. This is what the World Cup winning captain commented after being released by medics:

“I asked Donadoni to stay here with the squad as it seems fair after training hard for the past two years to come here. I am obviously disappointed as I was really looking forward to play in my third European Championship. The first one we lost the final against France, then the second one went terrible in Portugal and now we were looking forward to this year’s edition. I am very disappointed. Now I will have to wait two years to play with Italy in the next World Cup edition.”
