Crystal Palace have made contact with Fenerbahce over the potential signing of defender Jayden Oosterwolde to replace Marc Guehi.
England international Guehi joined Manchester City this month in a £20 million move.
The 25-year-old was close to joining Liverpool on deadline day in the summer, but the deal fell through at the last minute after Palace boss Oliver Glasner blocked the move.
But with Glasner’s exit confirmed for the end of the season, Guehi has now departed.
The Eagles are therefore in the market for a top-level defender to replace one of their most valuable assets.
Marc Guehi’s wages at Manchester City hint at how tough it would have been for Palace to tempt him to stay, making the decision to sell him inevitable.
But his absence has already been felt, with Palace winless in six Premier League games.
As a result, finding a replacement is an obvious and urgent need for the South London side.
Crystal Palace In Talks Over Jayden Oosterwolde
Reports from Turkey have claimed Palace are negotiating with Fenerbahce over a deal for 24-year-old defender Jayden Oosterwolde.
The former FC Twente and Parma centre-back has made 90 appearances in Turkey since joining in 2022-23.

Able to play centrally or on the left side of the defence, his pace and versatility have made him a top target for Palace.
Current club Fenerbahce are not keen on selling Oosterwolde, but are willing to listen to substantial offers.
Palace will therefore have to stump up a significant fee if they are to prize the Dutchman away from Turkey
What Can Palace Fans Expect From Oosterwolde?
An graduate of the FC Twente academy, Jayden Oosterwolde then spent two seasons at Parma in Italy’s Serie B before moving to Fenerbache in January 2023.
The last three years have seen him grow and develop massively as a player.

Standing at 6ft 2in, the versatile defender is solid in their air and calm on the ball.
His progress has seen several top clubs show interest, but it’s Crystal Palace that now look to be the frontrunners to sign him.
Fenerbahce will not sell cheaply, but there is optimism from those at Selhurst Park that a deal can be reached.
Will Jayden Oosterwolde Become Marc Guehi’s Replacement?
Crystal Palace are long-time admirers of Oosterwolde, and showed interest even before losing Guehi to City.
But now their talismanic defender has left, that interest has ramped up.

Although currently only initial contact has been made, Palace are hopeful of securing Oosterwolde’s services this month.
The Dutch defender is a slightly different profile of player compared to Guehi.
But his talent and ability have marked him out as one of Palace’s preferred options.
It remains to be seen whether Fenerbache will agree to let him go, though.
This one has the look of a transfer saga that could run right up until the deadline in a few weeks’ time.
