Leeds United Suffer Fresh Injury Blow Ahead Of Nottingham Forest Clash

Leeds United injury news

Leeds United have been dealt yet more worrying injury news ahead of this weekend’s massive relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest.

Premier League strugglers Leeds head into Friday’s fixture at Elland Road level on points with Forest.

The two are separated only by goals scored, with Leeds netting 31 to Forest’s 24.

With both teams six points above West Ham and the relegation zone, a win this weekend is essential.

Leeds missed out on Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen in the transfer window, in a major blow to their survival bid.

And despite some positivity from the Leeds treatment room in recent weeks, the Yorkshire side have now suffered a fresh injury concern.

Midfielder Anton Stach is carrying a hipe problem, one that could keep him out of Friday night’s game.

Leeds Injury News Ahead Of Vital Nottingham Forest Clash

Nottingham Forest make the relatively short trip north to face Leeds at Elland road under the lights on Friday.

In the reverse fixture, Forest won 3-1 at the City Ground on 9 November.

Forest have signed Luca Netz to bolster their defensive ranks, with the German arriving on Deadline Day.

But Daniel Farke’s Leeds squad has been boosted by the recent return of two players,

Jaka Bijol and James Justin have both been pictured in training this week.

The pair are back in contention for Friday night, though Bijol may not be risked from the start.

Slovenian international Bijol has been missing since early January with a hamstring problem, so may be eased back into the side.

Justin’s toe injury, suffered last weekend, appears to be minor and should mean he’s fit to starts.

However, Lukas Nmecha continues to be ruled out after picking up a hamstring issue during the warm-up against Everton.

Daniel Farke Confirms Leeds Injury Latest

Speaking ahead of Friday’s game, Leeds boss Farke conformed it was a mixed bag in terms of team news.

He said: “We have some mixed news in personnel terms.

“Jaka Bijol back in team training today. Good news. We have to wait on how his body reacts. James Justin had just a bruise and is back in team training.”

“Daniel James is making progress. Lukas Nmecha not in team training yet, it’s probably unlikely he will be back for this game but not too far away.”

But Anton Stach is expected to be out of both Friday’s game and next week’s trip to Chelsea.

“Anton Stach is struggling with some hip problems after the last game day and likely to miss the game and Friday and the Chelsea game,” continued Farke.

“Not good news with him, he’s an important player for us. It’s probably a situation of being out for 10 to 14 days. Pretty likely he’ll miss the game on Friday.”
