Leicester City Transfer Rumours Update – Week 2

It’s been a very busy week of transfer talk involving Leicester City, a number of names have been linked with a move to the Walkers Stadium, while reports state that “Foxes” striker Steve Howard could well be moving to Huddersfield Town.

INS
Diego Castro –
Spanish press stated early last week, that Paulo Sousa could well favour a move for Sporting Gijon’s vice captain Diego Castro. The winger has featured 142 times for the La Liga side, scoring 30 goals in the process. Sousa snapped up defender Miguel Vitor on a loan deal, and it’s highly likely that the former Swansea boss will look oversees again, this time striking a deal for highly rated winger Diego Castro.

Akos Buzsaky & Hogan Ephraim – A lot of media speculation has surrounded this possible move, involving two highly rated QPR players. Sky Sports Sources understood that Leicester City was set to approach Queens Park Rangers, over the possible signings of Buzsaky and Ephraim. On the other hand only a couple of days ago Neil Warnock stated that he would not sell Akos Buzsaky and Hogan Ephraim, ” They’re not for sale, it’s as simple as that”. “In fact Leicester are not as big as Rangers these days and these two players are going nowhere”.

Jay Simpson – 21 year old Jay Simpson has been touted with another loan move away from Arsenal, Simpson who was on loan at Queens Park Rangers last season is likely to be on the move as one national newspaper stated that Nottingham Forest and Leicester City are battling for his services, Simpson scored 12 goals in the 09/10 Championship campaign.

Ashley Williams – National Newspaper the Sun claimed that Paulo Sousa could well be interested in bringing Ashley Williams to the Walkers Stadium, the highly rated Welsh international has also been linked with a number of Premier League sides, however Sousa who left Swansea earlier this month is reported to be keen on signing the 25 year old from his former club. Williams netted Swansea’s only goal in a 2-1 loss at the Walkers Stadium last season.

OUTS
Steve Howard –
Reports stated only a couple of days ago, that Steve Howard was set for a £300,000 move to League 1 side Huddersfield Town. The target man who finished the 09/10 Championship campaign on a high, is believed to make a step down the football league to join Lee Clark’s Huddersfield. Clark though has spoken out on the possible move stating that, “As i’ve said before, Steve Howard is someone we know all about and have kept tabs on him for a long time”. Reports also stated that Howard could be involved in a swap deal, with “Terriers” striker Theo Robinson making a switch to the Walkers Stadium.

Harry Worley – Two days ago Leicester manager Paulo Sousa decided to terminate the contract of young defender Harry Worley, Worley was signed from Chelsea in the year 2008, and after a string of impressive performances in centre midfield under the guidance of Ian Holloway, the 21 year old fell dramatically out of favour under Nigel Pearson. As of last season Worley spent the whole 09/10 campaign on loan to Crewe Alexandra.
