Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Liga MX side Monterrey amid persistent links to the Major League Soccer (MLS).
The Frenchman sees his contract with Los Colchoneros expire in June 2027, but he is believed to be looking for a switch at the end of the season.
Griezmann Could Be the Latest Atletico Star to Move to North America
Atletico Madrid have had quite a few of their players move to North America in recent years. Last year, Rodrigo De Paul linked up with compatriot and friend Lionel Messi at Inter Miami in MLS. Angel Correa, meanwhile, moved to Liga MX side Tigres UANL in the same window.
Ex-Atleti midfielder Hector Herrera was with Toluca last season but is likely to return to MLS with a move to Houston Dynamo.
One of the central figures of Diego Simeone’s side, Antoine Griezmann, is set to be the next one to make the switch.
Griezmann Linked With Liga MX Side Monterrey
According to journalist Alex Silvestre, Griezmann has emerged as a strong transfer target for Monterrey.
The Canadian club, which signed Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos in 2025, want to make Griezmann their marquee player and are ready to offer the 34-year-old a lucrative contract. Griezmann is reportedly enticed by the package on offer.
“Rayados de Monterrey want Griezmann for next season,” Silvestre claimed (via AS)
“The offer and the project that they have offered is attractive for the Frenchman.”

Griezmann has previously expressed his desire to play in MLS. LA Galaxy and Inter Miami are reportedly showing the most interest in signing the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
Alongside Griezmann, Robert Lewandowski could also move to MLS in the summer transfer window.
Griezmann Remains a Formidable Force In His Mid-30s
Despite being in his twilight years, Griezmann continues to perform at a high level. The latest demonstration of his quality came on Tuesday night, as he scored the winning goal in Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 victory over second-tier side Deportivo La Coruna.
In the 61st minute, he dispatched an unstoppable free kick to send the ball into the top-right corner. Atletico managed to soak up the pressure in the final stretch of the game to secure the victory.
Griezmann could have had two goals to his name on the night had he not been denied by the crossbar just before halftime.
