Lopez Could Sign…

Jordi Lopez, Pompey’s latest trialist could still earn a move to Fratton Park.

The 27-year-old impressed in the 4-1 win over Gosport on Monday night. The ex-Real Madrid player played in a holding role and even went close to scoring with a carefully placed free kick, only to be denied by the reaching hands of the Gosport goalkeeper.

Lopez has until tomorrow to convince Redknapp to sign him up before his week long trial ends. The midfielder is currently a free agent, having left Real Mallorca at the end of last season.

Redknapp however is still unsure whether or not to sign the Spaniard but admits Lopez is a good player and someone worth looking at.

“I am not sure about Jordi at the moment, though. We’ve had him here this week and you can see he’s a decent player.

“He’s played for Real Madrid so you must have something about you and by all accounts he did okay at Gosport the other night.

“He’s still here. We’re just having a look at him so we’ll wait and see what happens.

“The lad’s a good player though. We’ll take it from there really.”
