Enzo Maresca’s Nicolas Jackson Chelsea Update Should Excite Newcastle And Aston Villa

Nicolas Jackson

Nicolas Jackson won’t feature for Chelsea this weekend amid transfer interest in his services.

The Senegalese striker, 24, is looking towards his future away from Stamford Bridge having been told he can leave the club should the right bid come in.

According to multiple reports, Jackson’s asking price is around £80million which is a staggering fee that could price clubs out of a move for the attacker.

Newcastle United have wanted Jackson for some time this window with Eddie Howe determined to add a striker to his squad amid the continued chaos surrounding Alexander Isak’s future.

Isak has not submitted a transfer request but is demanding an exit but it remains to be seen if there will be a positive outcome there.

For Jackson there is also interest from Aston Villa who have made an approach to Chelsea in an effort to determine whether or not they will be able to find a creative structure in which to fund the transfer.

Now, though, the latest development in Jackson’s career in London has been revealed by head coach Enzo Maresca who met the media earlier this morning ahead of this weekend’s clash with West Ham United tomorrow.

When asked about Jackson, the Italian manager admitted that he would not be involved in the first-team for the match. And that is despite being fit and ready to play if called upon.

Maresca instead confirmed the club would not use their player due to outside noise concerning his future.

What Enzo Maresca said about Jackson amid Newcastle and Aston Villa transfer interest

He said: “He is available, but he is not going to be part of the squad.

“As we already said, we have two strikers. And also we know that something can happen before the transfer window closes.”

Addressing both Jackson and his teammate Christopher Nkunku who is also expected to head for the exit door, Maresca added: “If they are going to be here, they will be with us. If not, it means they found a solution. I think it’s better if they find a solution because they are going to be more happy.

“Christo is with us, but it’s the same situation as Nico.”

Chelsea are understood to be open to moving both their front men on to allow them to free up finances to bring in two other attacking options.

Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United has been their long-term target and a deal for the Argentinian is drawing closer.

And Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Xavi Simons is also on the way into the club so long as an agreement can be struck.
