In an interview with Tranmere’s official site, manager Les Parry revealed that the Whites had defenders Michael Borrello and Mark McChrystal in training with a view to possible moves: “We had an Italian lad called Michael Borrello who has gone back to Italy and Mark, who did well. We`re going to see if we can do something with him.”
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers player McChrystal returned to his local team in 2003 after spending three years at Molineux. The 26-year old had a spell at Partick Thistle before moving back to Ireland in 2007 where he had become a regular under manager Stephen Kenny before his release last month.
Although reportedly very interested in a move to England, Parry will have to wait to sign the former Northern Ireland U21 captain: “He can`t sign until the 1st of January anyway. He`s out of contract now with Derry City but with the transfer window he`s not able to sign.”
With Parry`s squad suffering from yet another bout of injuries, the potential arrival of McChrystal at Prenton Park would add strength-in-depth and experience to a young squad fighting against the drop from League One.
