Simone Perrotta, Italy’s midfielder has lashed out at those thinking that Italy will fair poorly at the tournament. Perrotta has said that he thinks that Italy are rightly so judged as favourites to win the tournament especially after coming from winning the World Cup in Germany two years ago. Perrotta will have to battle hard to gain a place in Donadoni’s line-up with all the midfielders Don has to his options which include Camoranesi, De Rossi, Gattuso, Pirlo and Aquilani.
“Are we favourites? We should be, we always start as favourites from those who predict the outcomes,†Perotta told Corriere Stadio.
“The World Cup win has made us more aware of these types of things.”
“As for playing, I am always available as are the other players. Some people will help on the pitch and some off it.”
“I can play anywhere in the middle but what I do at Roma is difficult to repeat here.† Â
