Southampton are under pressure to sell Luke Shaw, their promising 16 year-old left back. Shaw, who is yet to experience first-team action, is being courted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, it has been reported.
The latest product of Southampton’s highly rated academy is set to follow in the footsteps of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in securing a big money transfer.
A reported price-tag of £4 million is unlikely to deter any of these three clubs and it will be interesting which of them will have scouts at tonight’s U-18 fourth round match in the FA Youth Cup at Bolton.
Shaw is a regular in the England U-17 squad and he is held in high regard by Football Association’s director of football development, Sir Trevor Brooking.
