Schmeichel and Earnshaw Set For Foxes?

It has been an action packed week of transfer rumours involving Leicester City, with manager Sven Goran Eriksson prepared to spend big over the summer, the Swede has been linked with plenty of names who could possibly be joining his Championship side for the forthcoming season. Two names in particular in the identity of Emile Heskey and talented goalkeeper Kieren Westwood have been strongly linked, meanwhile a quartet of strikers in the names of Marlon King, Nicky Maynard, Ched Evans and Mexican hotshot Antonio Pedroza Whitham have also been touted for a move to the Walkers Stadium. Lastly Kyle Naughton, Ben Mee and Yakubu who were all on loan at Leicester City during the 2010/2011 season could all make a comeback in the next month.

It’s been all hands on deck for the local newspaper the Leicester Mercury and the main national newspapers, as they have started to report on many possible signings which could be snapped up during a busy summer. The latest duo of names which have been linked via the Daily Mirror, are Leeds United goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and Nottingham Forest striker Robert Earnshaw.

The Daily Mirror has speculated that Sven Goran Eriksson is lining up a £2 million pound move, for the highly rated Kasper Schmeichel. The 24 year old only joined his current club Leeds United at the start of last season, where he has made a total of 37 appearances, Eriksson is rumoured to be impressed with Schmeichel’s performances for Leeds United plus he had the Danish shot stopper in his ranks at Manchester City. In my view this is unlikely to happen, even though £2 million is a decent price for young Schmeichel, after only joining the club in last July, Leeds United might not want to sell one of their prize assets.

Robert Earnshaw is a more likely target for the Foxes, a new goalkeeper and plenty of new strikers are on Sven Goran Eriksson’s radar, as both Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn have been linked with moves away from the Walkers Stadium. Also Yakubu and Diomansy Kamara have now gone back to their parent clubs, Everton and Fulham respectively. Leicester City are currently short on strikers but many names have been linked, but Earnshaw is the latest, as the Welsh striker wouldn’t cost the Foxes a single penny as he would join the club on a free transfer. Earnshaw has been prolific in front of goal especially at Championship level for Cardiff and for Nottingham Forest, even though Earnshaw would be moving from East Midlands rivals Forest, a player who has found the net on plenty of occasions in the past two season’s wouldn’t be a buy bad surely?

Leicester City are all set for a busy summer of transfer activity, as Foxes fans are all ready to see a whole bunch of new faces arrive in the next month. This is exciting times for the East Midlands club, who will Leicester City actually sign because it’s time to get the cheque book out Sven!
