It has emerged that Stoke have made an offer of £2 million for Newcastle’s Senegalese international defender Abdoulaye Faye.
Faye is unsettled at Newcastle and has made just 22 appearances for the club since joining for £2.5 million from Bolton last summer. He appears to have become surplus to requirements at the Magpies and has not appeared in any pre-season matches for the club who have added two central defenders to their squad this Summer.
Faye, 30, pictured doing battle with City’s Ricardo Fuller moved to England from RC Lens in 2005, going on to make 60 appearances for Bolton, scoring three times.

Abdoulaye would be an excellent signing for Stoke, as he is a strong and assured player, the sort that no striker ever wants to come up against. On top of this, he is one of the few centre backs around at the moment who has genuine pace.
