Vahid isn’t ‘the one’ for Pompey – Storrie

Executive chairman Peter Storrie has been quick to deny rumours that current Ivory Coast manager, Vahid Halihodzic is set to become Portsmouth F.C’s latest manager.

Rumours had been fuelling all week that ‘advanced negotiations’ had taken place between Halihodzic and associates representing Pompey.

Storrie however denied the claims, calling the story complete ‘utter rubbish’.

He told The News, ‘It’s all complete and utter rubbish. There’s nothing in it at all.

‘We’ve had no discussions or meetings whatsoever,’ the executive chairman was quick to add.

The 56-year-old Bosnian is relatively unknown in the English game but his C.V provides a track record of proven experience inside the game. His most successful years perhaps came at French Ligue 1 club, Paris Saint-Germain with whom in 2004 he guided them to a 2nd place finish and won the French Cup.

Other notable achievements include promotion from French Ligue 2 with Lille in 2002. Whilst many were quick to judge Halihodzic, many fans pointed out that he would prove to be a better alternative than Croatia manager, Slaven Bili?, whom despite his clamour and positive representation does not boast an experienced track record of club management.

Halihodzic announced yesterday that he was ready to make an announcement of his future with the Ivory Coast national team at the beginning of next week. This escalated rumours he was set to become the next Pompey boss.
