Wolves are in the midst of a nightmare run this season.
The Molineux outfit currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League table and are already cutting themselves adrift behind those clubs just ahead in the division.
Poor results have followed the club this term so far and they must arrest that misery or risk finding themselves too far gone to save their season.
And that would likely come sooner rather than later.
Manager Vitor Pereira is under serious pressure at the club. Or at least he would be had the Portuguese coach not recently signed a new contract until 2028 despite the poor form he has overseen.
It was a move from the club which looked somewhat strange at the time, but it now looks even worse for supporters who are at the end of their tether with their team’s performances.
We at FootballBlog have taken a look at the statistics from Wolves and heir top players as well as their place in the division.
And why Pereira struck it lucky with the higher-ups in convincing them to extend his deal early doors.
Wolves’ Premier League form
It has been a miserable campaign in the top flight of English football so far for Wanderers.
They sit at the root of the table with ZERO wins so far and that cannot be forgiven by the punters.
The club have only managed two draws in that time with a whopping seven defeats from their opening fixtures.
Pereira’s squad have looked a shadow of their former selves and they have to fix that soon.
Goals scored vs goals conceded by Wolves
In terms of goals in the league they have scored a measly seven in their first nine and shipped a massive 19 strikes in that time period.
Top striker Jørgen Strand Larsen also signed a new contract with Wolves recently at the same time his boss did, and he has chipped in with three goals and three assists in 10 outings.
That is obviously a massive dip for the club with their main man underperforming at the same time as everyone else.
However in the Carabao Cup they made it to the fourth round by knocking out West Ham only to be seen off in an enthralling 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday.
That result may have brought some confidence that the squad can at least still compete, but they must put together a string of those showings and couple them with points.
Pereira’s record as Wolves boss
This campaign, as stated, has been poor for Pereira and his troops and in all competitions they have won only two matches.
But what about his career in the West Midlands more generally?
The former FC Porto and Corinthians gaffer joined Wolves in December 2024 and he took over at the helm with his side languishing second bottom of the division following Gary O’Neil’s tenure.
Pereira took Wolves to 16th and managed to avoid the drop after winning 12 matches in all competitions including an admirable run of six straight victories between March and April 2025.
In total he has won 14 of 37, drawing five games and losing 18.
In terms of goals in that schedule he has watched his team score 54 and concede 61 with a points per game average of 1.27.
What the fans are saying about Wolves manager
It appears Wolves fans have perhaps had enough of their manager if social media is anything to go by.
Some have called for the boss to be sacked with one commenting: “Small time manager, you are a joke Vitor Pereira an absolute fraud and so is your coaching staff.”
Another commented: “Jeff [Shi], (chairman), is tired of change – we’re tired of none.”
One wrote: “The Wolves party is over. The glasses are empty, the lights are on, and the reality check is thudding like a bassline at 6 a.m. Vítor Pereira looks dazed, Fosun look worried, and fans are wondering how the good times slipped away so fast.”
A fourth added: “Lol, how is Arne slot under more threat than vitor pereira at wolves? lol crazy”.
