We’ve Still Got It

Fabio Grosso has rubbished claims of Italy players being just big babies after their disappointing opener. Grosso said that he had forgot how the Italy press was accustomed after staying in France with Lyon yet he reminded all that the World Cup spirit is still intact with the group and they fear no-one when they play Romania tomorrow.

Not Big Babies

“We are not big babies the way some people have said,” slammed the Lyon left-back to Reuters.

“Technical critiques of our performance are fine, but there have been some really nasty and pointless personal attacks. I was no longer accustomed to the Italian Press, they often behave this way.”

 We Cannot Make a Mistake

“The heavy result does not reflect everything seen on the pitch that day. Besides, it is a verdict that must be accepted and transformed into positive energy for the next game,” added Grosso.

“We conceded the first goal in what might euphemistically be called a ‘strange’ way, the squad got irritated and straight after the second went in. It’s not easy in such an important competition to recover from that.

“The 2-0 shook us up, but we still had chances to re-open the match. The whole squad goes together, win or lose, all the way to the end. We want to make up for it and will prove it.

“We cannot make a mistake in the game against Romania, but we are not afraid. The pre-World Cup spirit is still intact and we’ll show you all. We are aware of our capabilities.”
