West Ham – Possible takeover

There has been news recently of a possible bid to takeover West Ham United for about 90 million pounds. It has been rumoured that an Asian based group of investers are close to buying the club from its current owners. Back in 2006 Eggert Magnusson bought the club for 85 million pounds. He was the main driving force with the idea to possibly move West Ham to the Olympic Stadium after the Olympic games yet talk of that seems to have stayed under the surface for a while. At the moment the group have only been described as “Asian Investors” a deal worth around 90 million pounds could be completed very soon, possibly even this week. The main problem for the potential new owners is the possibilty of having to pay Sheffield United up to 50 million pounds but let’s be honest, if you’re buying a football club in these troubling economic times then you must have a fair amount of money! It is also expected that Gianfranco Zola will ask for more transfer funds to be available come the summer transfer window.
