Wolves still want Berra

Wolves had a £1.5m rejected at the beginning of June for the Hearts centre half and then negotiations were put on hold until the Edinburgh club appointed a new manager. Now that this has happened, Csaba Laszlo was unveiled on Friday, Wolves have returned to find that Hearts are refusing to budge on their £2m asking price.

According to, there have been suggestions that Hearts are attempting to sell Berra to a Premiership club for £3m but have had no offers. Further, Wolves would be right to œstick to their guns as this time last year Hearts sold Craig Gordon to Sunderland for £9m, £1m short of their original valuation.

To compare these two seems wrong. The £9m sale of Gordon, a UK transfer record for a goalkeeper, was a tremendous achievement for Romanov. Had he been sold two or three years previous to that, Gordon would have ended up at one half of the Old Firm for around £2m. Romanov is unlikely to drop his asking price by a quarter just because Wolves refuse to increase their bid.

Also it is mentioned in the article that Csaba Laszlo could look to bring Wolves Hungarian midfielder Denes Rosa to Tynecastle, a player Laszlo managed at Hungarian side Ferecvaros, opening up speculation that a swap deal could be on the cards.
