Edwin van der Sar is 37 years old and he plays as a goalkeeper for Manchester United in the number 1 jersey. He was born in Voorhout on the 29th October 1970, and is 1.97 metres tall and weighs 84 kilograms. In his career until today, he has played for four professional teams: Ajax, Juventus, Fulham and Man Utd. In the past season, he won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League with Man Utd and is set to be named Best Goalkeeper in Europe.
Van der Sar made his debut for Holland on the 7th June 1995 against Belarus. Ever since then, he has appeared in several competitions in his long international career and earned himself the undisputed role of first keeper for the national side wearing the No 1 shirt. He was also named captain of Holland for Euro 2008 as the most experienced and influential player in the squad. He has earned 128 caps until now and has said that he will retire from international duty after Euro 2008.
