Even playing at home, Palmeiras lost again in the Libertadores da America:
[youtube:http://youtube.com/watch?v=gOXy-93-GTA] (Keirrison interview follows; in portuguese)Palmeiras couldn’t kep the good playing from Campeonato Paulista in Libertadores: now the team has two defeats in two games, and will have a hard time to get 10-12 points in the last 4 matches to continue to next stage of competition.
I was on the stadium and the game was alful to Palmeiras. As Keirrison said, the team tried to play with high balls (crosses and long passes) to much, which is not Palmeiras’ characteristic. In other had, Colo-Colo played a gooed game, specially in the counter-attacks, with the striker Lucas Barrios.
Palmeiras’ defenders made a poor match, specially Edmilson, who was always trying a fancy play when attacking, and lost almost every tackle when defending.
Without possession, Palmeiras wasn’t able to build-up play fast as the team uses to. When the ball fell with Willians and Keirrison, they tried to speed up the play, but Cleiton Xavier and Diego Souza didn’t found themselves in the game. Cleiton Xavier made the assistence and created one good opportunity, but thet’s just it; and Diego Souza was almost invisible the whole match.
The defeat does not only made Palmeiras’ life harder in the competition, but created a bad mood to the preparation to the derby against Corinthians in the sunday, for the Campeonato Paulista. I just hope that Palmeiras plays next game as it always do in the Campeonato Paulista – a win against the archrival would make things go back to normality.
