Arshavin hails Holland

Arshavin, Russia’s playmaker and one of its most important players, stated that Holland are the best side in Euro 2008 and clear favourites to lift the trophy. Statistics prove this statement, as the Dutch have scored 9 goals in 3 games (an average of 3 per match) and conceded just one goal, from Henry against France. This is due to the great combination of defenders, a world-class experienced goalkeeper and goalscoring machines up front.

Arshavin is worried if his side can get anything out of the game against the Dutch on Saturday, and would have preferred if his team had to face another team rather than the Dutch. The Russians wasted their chances against Sweden but they cannot afford to do that on the 21st June, as the fast-paced Dutchmen can easily atatck the Russians on counter-attack.

“If we didn’t have to play the Netherlands, we would feel much better, because I think they are the best side here. But fate has it that we have to play the strongest team in the tournament in the last eight. I hope we will be able to match them.”
