Nuno Espirito Santo Next Club Options After Nottingham Forest Axe

Nuno Espirito Santo is on the lookout for a new job following his sacking at Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese coach, 51, suffered one of the earliest Premier League sackings in a season of all time after he was binned by club president Evangelos Marinakis.

That came following a fall-out and a public admission from Nuno that the pair’s relationship had changed. The club spent more than £230million in the summer transfer window for their manager but ultimately opted to get rid.

Ange Postecoglou was named as new Forest boss a short time later and that was met with both optimism from fans as well as disappointment from Tottenham supporters who were gutted to see their old gaffer in at another club.

Of course, Forest fans were emotional at losing Nuno who helped guide the club to Europe last season.

And while he will not be able to take charge of the club there, it is likely Nuno will have other options lining up to take him in as their own new head coach between now and the end of the current campaign.

We have had a look at some possible clubs he could rock up at as next leader – and there are some big names in there.

West Ham

Graham Potter is under serious pressure as manager of the Irons and fans have already began questioning his future.

Frank Lampard was named as an option for next Hammers boss should the ownership make a quick change, but Nuno could well be in the running with the ambitions the club have to make European football again.

Celtic

Brendan Rodgers looks likely to leave the Hoops at the end of the season following their miserable transfer window as well as a club source accusing him in a national newspaper of “engineering his exit”.

Rodgers promised to work his three year contract in Glasgow after an early exit back in 2019 but once that’s run its course, the Irishman will depart.

If Nuno is still available at the end of the season – as unlikely as that sounds – he might be the perfect fit at Celtic for their attacking efforts and he suits their traditional style.

Fenerbahce

Jose Mourinho left the club earlier this season after just one year in charge and the legendary coach is on the hunt for a new role himself.

And the Turkish club could do a lot worse than cast their net towards NES who has experience managing outside of the UK with Al-Ittihad in Saudi.

Fenerbahce will be chasing the league title which could tempt the manager into a move.
