Leeds United Reach Agreement With Premier League Rivals Over Loan Move

Facundo Buonanotte Leeds

Leeds United are set to sign Brighton midfielder Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Brighton youngster has been on loan at Chelsea, but reports indicate that deal will now be terminated.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds held a strong interest in the Argentine playmaker over the summer.

But having opted for a move to Stamford Bride, it seemed like Leeds’ pursuit was at an end.

However, having struggled for minutes at Chelsea, the 21-year-old is now set to spend the remainder of the season at Elland Road.

Leeds also enquired about Como midfielder Martin Baturina earlier this week.

The Yorkshire club are determined to bolster their midfield ranks in the January window.

Newcastle’s Joe Willock is another Leeds target in that area.

Buonanotte’s Chelsea Loan Didn’t Go As Planned

Having made just eight appearances at Chelsea, it’s no surprise to see Facundo Buonanotte recalled by Brighton.

He was left out of the Blues’ initial UEFA Champions League squad, with injuries the only reason he’s featured.

Facuno Buonanotte made just eight appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.

As star man Cole Palmer nears a return, his Buonanotte’s opportunities will be further limited.

The player appears to have therefore chosen to return to Brighton and seek a new loan move.

And with Leeds set to be the beneficiaries, he is an excellent addition to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Facundo Buonanotte Set For Leeds United Move

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that a verbal agreement is now in place between Leeds and Brighton.

Buonanotte is due for a medical at Elland Road, having now returned from Chelsea.

Joining Leeds will give the youngster an opportunity to show his worth in the Premier League.

Brighton value him as a long-term prospect, and are keen to see the Argentine gain minutes at the top level.

When Buonanotte joined Chelsea, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler said: “Facundo has great potential, and we see his long-term future with us here, and we will be monitoring his progress with Chelsea this season.”

He will likely play in behind strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor, but can also operate on the right flank.

Should Buonanotte complete his Leeds move before the weekend, he may be in line for selection for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Fulham.

After that, Leeds travel to Everton before rounding out January with Arsenal at home.

Leeds were beaten 5-0 at the Emirates in August, so will know the threat posed by the league leaders.
