Liverpool Agree Personal Terms With £65 Million Attacker

Liverpool are believed to have agreed personal terms with Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo ahead of a proposed future deal.

It’s become another long-running saga for Liverpool, but the Reds appear to be edging closer to signing Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian attacker has exploded onto the scene over the past year.

With 17 goal involvements last season and 10 more already this term, it’s no surprise to see Liverpool come knocking.

Semenyo has established himself as one of the most complete attackers outside the traditional ‘big six’ clubs.

And at 25, he is just entering his prime, making him an ideal signing for a top club.

Despite a new contract thast runs until 2030, he has been heavily linked with a move away from Bournemouth.

His current deal also includes a £65 million release clause, which becomes active in January and drops further in the summer.

With Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah’s future suddenly uncertain after his recent public fallout with Arne Slot, the club’s need for a replacement has become urgent.

Former manager Jurgen Klopp described Salah as ‘not easy to manage’ recently, suggesting a long-running tension behind the scenes.

And it now appears the club are actively pursuing a replacement, with Semenyo’s proposed move to Anfield gathering pace.

A significant development emerged this week, with the news that Semenyo has reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

The Reds are believed to have reached a full agreement over contract details with the player.

This dramatically simplifies any future move, and puts Arne Slot’s side firmly ahead of most rivals in the race to sign the Ghana international.

While Bournemouth remain under no immediate pressure to sell, this puts Liverpool in a commanding position should they decide to trigger the release clause.

For Liverpool, agreeing personal terms is a major hurdle overcome.

It removes the biggest obstacle in signing Semenyo, allowing them to move quickly if needed.

However, Manchester City have also reportedly reached a similar agreement.

Semenyo is one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League.

Such news is no surprise, given Semenyo’s obvious appeal.

Capable of playing on either flank or through the middle, he brings pace, power and versatility – traits Arne Slot highly values.

His pressing ability could also be a huge help, given what Liverpool lost after Luis Diaz departed in the summer.

And the situation with Mo Salah only adds to Liverpool’s needs.

The Egyptian has departed for AFCON with Egypt, after a week of controversy and public mud-slinging ended in reintegration into Arne Slot’s squad.

Salah missed Egypt’s warm-up game against Nigeria, but is expected to be back for their opener against Zimbabwe.

But the 33-year-old is in the twilight of his career, and his powers are clearly diminishing.

Semenyo is not a like-for-like replacement, but his aggression, output and durability make him an ideal candidate if Salah moves on sooner rather than later.

Are Liverpool And Semenyo Better To Wait Until The Summer?

But despite talk of a January move, there are strong arguments for Liverpool to hold off until the summer.

The club invested heavily ahead of the season, and Slot is still working out how to get the best out of those signings.

Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz arrived for a combined total well over £200 million.

Adding Semenyo in January could complicate an already crowded picture.

Liverpool’s new attacking signings have struggled since arriving.

And from the player’s perspective, waiting till the summer could also be the better option.

Bournemouth will be reluctant to part ways mid-season, though Semenyo’s release clause would negate this if triggered.

But a summer move would allow the forward a full pre-season to integrate into Arne Slot’s system and adapt to his new teammates.

Players who move in January rarely hit the ground running, often struggling with the sudden change.

However, if circumstances change quickly, such as Mo Salah leaving in January, Liverpool may feel compelled to pull the trigger.

And with personal terms now agreed, the Reds have everything in place to act quickly if needed.
