Blow for Behrami

West Ham United have confirmed that Valon Behrami will be out for around six months with the knee injury that he suffered against Manchester City. He has been to Italy to have the damage assessed and then repaired and the verdict is that he has an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee.

Behrami’sinjury occurred when he went in for a challenge and his studs got caught in the Upton Park turf. The referee immediately stopped play and the replays showed how horrendous the injury was. Although at first the injury looked like an ankle injury, replays showed his knee crumble in a very awkward fashion.

Referee Mike Dean did well to stop play immediately after the injury

Behrami has had keyhole surgery in Italy and is expected to return to London next week and undergo his rehabilitation with the clubs medical team shortly after his return to the club. However, there is still no news on fellow midfielder Jack Collison’s injury although his injury looked much the same to Behrami’s and hopefully he can be back on the road to recovery soon.
