Juventus number one keeper Gigi Buffon has been selected as Italy’s captain for the upcoming European Championships. Donadoni had to select a new captain after losing World-Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro to an injury which led to Fiorentina defender Gamberini being brought into the squad. Many were saying that it was either Buffon or Del Piero to take the captain band however Del Piero is unlikely to feature regulary for Italy due to amount of talent in the attacking options Donadoni has available and this made it more easier for Italy to choose Buffon as captain.
