Fergie’s folly

Hands up everyone who thought Rovers were safe?

After winning two in a row for the first time in ages, it was back down to earth with a bump as a fired-up Bolton team made a mockery of those who thought safety was a formality.

Rovers may yet escape, but it’s likely to go to the wire and, even if they do, it’ll be nothing to shout from the rooftops about.

Which brings us nicely to the latest in a long of comments from yet another ‘expert’ on the situation at Ewood. This time it’s Fergie.

The same Fergie who slammed Venky’s for removing his big chum Sam Allardyce from the Rovers hot-seat now reckons Steve Kean deserves “100% percent praise from everyone.”

Quite what for is anyone’s guess, but if that wasn’t enough, he follows up with a few more nuggets.

“I’m sure a lot of them are saying to themselves, ‘I wish I hadn’t done that’.”

Really? Where are all these hidden fans who regret levelling criticism at a man who’s taken a top ten team and turned it into relegation fodder?

“Now no-one is talking about fans having protest marches.”

Are you sure? That’s not the message coming from the BRFC Action Group. But of course, it’s Sir Alex Ferguson. Clearly, he knows best.

“He has shown his mettle in times when it was difficult for him.”

Stop laughing at the back. “Difficult?” Any difficulties have been of Kean’s own making. Along with the owners, Kean hasn’t “shown his mettle” – he’s been an integral part of a process that has sent Rovers lurching from one disaster to another.

Quite why Fergie feels qualified to poke his nose in where it doesn’t belong is a mystery. The simple fact of the matter is the only people who truly understand the situation at Ewood are the fans.

To suggest Kean deserves “100% praise from everyone” is, quite frankly, the biggest heap of garbage that has ever come tumbling out of Fergie’s mouth.

Sir Alex Ferguson – you are hereby bringing the game into disrepute.
