Aston Villa were dealt a blow ahead of the weekend’s visit to Old Trafford with the news that Craig Gardner had picked up a thigh strain whilst on international duty.
Gardner picked up the injury during the first half of England’s U21 fixture with Poland at Molineux on Tuesday night.
He is a out of the Manchester United game and seriously doubtful for the next two fixtures, at home to Bolton and away at bottom side Derby County.
Gardner has spent most of the season playing at right back due to a lack of alternate options in that position. He has netted 3 times so far this season in 15 league starts.
