Transfer Rumours Ranked: Joshua Zirkzee to Depart Manchester United for Premier League Rivals?

The transfer window may have officially closed in early September but the rumour mill is still running rampant ahead of clubs’ January business.

We at FootballBlog are here to help you keep on top of all the talk so here are today’s rumours ranked.

Joshua Zirkzee allowed to leave Manchester United with Everton and West Ham interested

Rumour rating: 5

Manchester United’s attacker Zirkzee has suffered from simply being behind Benjamin Sesko in the pecking order with the summer signing costing around £80million.

That has left manager Ruben Amorim with little choice but to play the Slovenian even if he has taken a little bit of time to settle at Old Trafford.

The price tag has to be justified and Zirkzee has been a victim of that off field issue coming to the fore.

The former Bologna forward has only managed four appearances in all competitions thus far this season and a combined total of 82 minutes from those matches.

Speculation in some quarters of the media has suggested that the Dutchman has asked United if he can leave in January with loan moves being reportedly lined up for the 24-year-old.

Everton are one club under David Moyes who have been linked with the player while Nuno Espirito Santo at West Ham has also now had their name mentioned.

But this one is just pure rumour at this point, as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed in a podcast this week.

He said: “I wanted to mention something also on the situation of Manchester United because today we had rumours coming from England about Joshua Zirkzee asking officially the club to leave in the January transfer window.

“I want to clarify something about that, guys, because I was talking about Zirkzee here on the channel a few days ago and then I told you, as of today, today is day 23 of October, Joshua Zirkzee hasn’t asked Manchester United to leave the club.”

Newcastle United may move for Endrick loan deal

Rumour rating: 6

Real Madrid’s promising playmaker has struggled to make any sort of real impact at the Bernabeu in recent times.

Injury has perhaps blighted his cause after a hamstring problem kept him sidelined for as many as four months after what was a decent season last year.

His desire was to impress Madrid boss Xabi Alonso this term following the Spaniard’s move from Bayer Leverkusen as head coach but he has been unable to do so through injury and then others playing more football ahead of him.

It has been claimed in certain reports – from Football Fan Cast in particular – that Eddie Howe is a big admirer of the Brazilian, 19, and could look to make some moves in January.

He is yet to feature in the first 10 matches this season so far for Los Blancos and that could play into the Magpies’ hands if they attempt to convince the club to part ways with their playmaker, firstly, and secondly, convince the player to move.

There is already a strong Brazil contingent at St James’ Park with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton enjoying their time on Tyneside.

Marcus Rashford Barcelona permanent stay

Rumour rating: 7

The England international has made it relatively clear he wants to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis to ensure he plays more often and finds a club he can call home.

Rashford has started well at Barca and his statistics have looked good since he made the switch.

The striker has five goals and six assists from his first 13 games for the Catalan giants and that means his numbers are more consistent at Camp Nou than they have been in years.

Rashford’s loan at Aston Villa went fine. Unspectacular.

But he has already shone more in La Liga than he has anywhere else and if Barca are looking to spend to keep him, we suspect United will play ball.

The player will also likely prefer a stay at Barcelona and he said as much to ESPN recently when asked if he would be willing to remain in Spain as opposed to returning to Manchester.

“Oh yeah, for sure. I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it’s an honour,” he said.
