Leeds United Question And Answer

I have decided to restart the question and answer sessions here on leicester.footballblog.co.uk, our first question and answer of the season is Leeds United, I picked the brains of Leeds United footymad editor Kevin Markey, as I got his thoughts on the early season progress, Tuesday’s Carling Cup fixture against Leicester and manager Simon Grayson.

1. To kick things off, how good is it to see Leeds United back in the second tier of English football?

Brilliant feeling when we got promoted. I was working on Yorkshire Radio at the time with Eddie Gray and I must admit I was nervous for the whole game and absolutely exhausted afterwards!

2. Leeds are currently 9th in the Npower Championship, are you pleased with the early season start?

Nice steady start and most fans would be happy with a 9th place finish for our first season back in the Championship.

3. Simon Grayson is a familiar face to all Leicester City fans, what are your thoughts on him as a manager?

He’s a Leeds fan who happens to be the manager! Great guy and despite the pressures of being Leeds boss he’s handling it very well so far.

4. A Carling Cup first round win against Lincoln seemed easy enough, what were your thoughts on the 4-0 win?

Like you say, it was easy and just the sort of game we needed after the opener against Derby, to instil more confidence that only a 4-nil win can bring.

5. Are you confident that your side will progress into the third round, with a win over Leicester City?

Our games against Leicester have been tough recently and we are due a win. Not confident but hopeful we can progress.

6. Lloyd Sam has started the new campaign exceptionally well, would you class him as your best signing so far this summer?

It seems he is along with Schmeichal. Three goals in the same amount of games suggest we’ve bought well.

7. Also 25 year old striker Davide Somma scored a brace at the weekend, how talented is the South African?

He was magnificent while on loan at Lincoln last season and he has been unlucky with injuries since we signed him up. Took both goals well and looks a great prospect on his 14 minutes so far!

8. Lastly, the all important score prediction?

We’ll sneak it 2-1.
