Match report – Fulham 2-4 Man City: City made to work for victory

Manchester City moved up to second in the Premier League after a thrilling victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Yaya Toure scored stunningly from a direct free kick and Vincent Kompany prodded home before the break as City seemed to be in control.

Fulham pulled one back when Kieran Richardson finished off a counter-attacking move and levelled after Vincent Kompany sliced his intended clearence over the head of recalled goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Two well taken goals from two substitutes, Jesus Navas and James Milner, ensured Pellegrini’s side crept up to second in the Barclays Premier League table.

City are now unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions and are only one point behind league leaders Liverpool, who moved top earlier in the day courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Cardiff City.

The visitors, who have been turning opponents over with lethal attacking displays at the Etihad, have been struggling on their travels,  having only been able to negotiate eight points from their first eight away matches.
