Palmeiras 2×1 Bragantino – Ortigoza show!

Palmeiras beat last night Bragantino at Palestra Itália:

With a Barcelona agent to scout Keirrison, the night was dominated by the paraguayan Ortigoza, who scored twice and saved Palmeiras after the own goal of Jeci.

Without Pierre (suspended) and Armero (in Colombian National team), Luxemburgo decided to enter with 3 central defenders:

Marcos;
Marcão, Jeci and Maurício;
Sandro Silva, Jumar, Cleiton Xavier and Jefferson;
Diego Souza and Marquinhos;
Keirrison.

This shows that Palmeiras’ coach does not think that’s possible to play with two defenders without Palmeiras’ main players. That was the first time that Marquinhos start in first eleven (against Guarani the team played with the reserves), and Luxemburgo liked his presentation.

As the match goes and Palmeiras suffer the goal, the coach changed the formation, and put Ortigoza in Jeci’s place, returning to a 4-4-2. With Ortigoza more centralized, Palmeiras had a reference to play in the attack, and the paraguayan did not missed the opportunities he had.

With this win, Palmeiras guaranteed the place in the semi-finals. There’s three games left, and Palmeiras is four points ahead of Corinthians, the second.

The bad news is that Diego Souza, sent off, will no play the derby against São Paulo in the saturday.
