Patrick Bamford is closing in on his next move following his release from Leeds United earlier this summer.
The former Elland Road striker had his contract ripped up by the Whites following a chat with manager Daniel Farke where the German made it clear he had no future there.
Bamford had been forced to train away from the Leeds first-team and that was another call made by the boss which signaled the end was nigh.
Celtic were linked with Bamford, 31, with Brendan Rodgers seeking a new frontman at the end of what was a miserable summer transfer window for the Scottish Premiership giants.
As it would transpire it was Kelechi Iheanacho who would move to the Hoops and that put an end to Bamford interest. However the Englishman wasted little time in finding himself a new club, according to reports.
Patrick Bamford close to Getafe move
It has been claimed in Spanish media that the attacker is closing in on a move to Getafe after his agents spoke with the club. Top transfer journalist Matteo Moretto claims a deal is on the verge of being completed.
The pair are believed to be in advanced negotiations.
Getafe have won their first three of five matches in their division with two defeats but they have only managed six goals in those five, conceding seven.
That is where the experienced striker Bamford comes in as manager Jose Bordalas looks to bolster his attack and improve his squad’s stats in front of goal.
Bamford’s top scoring season came in 2021 when he found the back of the net 17 times in the Premier League for Leeds.
Who Bamford will join at La Liga club
That knowledge will go a long way in Spain as has been proven by other players over the years.
It all came about after a financial package was struck between the player and Leeds to allow for him to depart and make for a fresh challenge.
The 31-year-old spent seven years at his old club where he managed 60 goals in 205 appearances in all competitions.
The forward bid an emotional farewell to supporters on his social media pages as the former Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Derby County attacker said thank you for the love over the stint.
If a deal can be signed off on this week, Bamford will join the ranks which already boasts some top talent.
The likes of Mauro Arambarri, Abu Kamara and Borja Mayoral all currently turn out for the Deep Blues who finished 13th last term.
