Where Next For Patrick Bamford After Leeds Exit; Premier League and Scottish Options

Patrick Bamford is on the lookout for a new club following his Leeds United exit earlier this week.

The former Whites striker had his deal mutually terminated this week following a discussion with manager Daniel Farke which confirmed he would have no future at Elland Road.

The 31-year-old had been forced to train away from the first-team and that was another decision from the manager that proved his time at the club was over.

A financial package was agreed between both parties to ship Bamford out and the forward shared a clip on his social media pages of his favourite goal scoring moments “from me to you” in a parting post for supporters.

He spent seven years with the club and won the EFL Championship title twice but now has to turn his attentions to the future and what may come next.

Leeds United confirmed Patrick Bamford had left

The question remains as to where Bamford might end up but there are numerous clubs in the Premier League – as well as in the EFL and in Scotland – who are on the hunt for a goal scoring frontman.

Newcastle United may well be looking for a younger talent with European experience as Nicolas Jackson springs to mind regarding a possible Magpies transfer target.

Bamford could well be a bit too old – 31, we know – for Newcastle, but they are seeking firepower.

A more realistic option for the player could potentially be Brentford who still need to replace Bryan Mbuemo after the Cameroon international left the Bees for Manchester United.

Yoane Wissa is wanted by Newcastle for around £40m and that could pave a path for Bamford to make a switch to the Gtech Community Stadium.

Bamford possible transfer destinations post-Leeds

Brighton may also be on the lookout for a proper number nine and that would be where Bamford came in.

Danny Welbeck is not exactly firing on all cylinders right now and that is poor timing for the striker as well as the Seagulls who need a striker to properly replace Joao Pedro.

Sure, a sexier European name could be on their cards, but Bamford on a free would be decent business.

Matheus Cunha followed Mbuemo to Old Trafford and that leaves Wolves a tad short in the forward areas. Would Bamford be a suitable player to make that move?

Or could the England international possibly make his next move in Scotland?

Celtic are losing Adam Idah to Swansea City and Brendan Rodgers will know all about him having played against him with his Leicester City side.

The Hoops do want Kasper Dolberg of Anderlecht, but stranger things have happened with so little of the window remaining.
