Second half goals for Pepe & Raul Meireles gave Portugal all three points against Turkey in the second Group A game in Geneva on Saturday. Many Turkish fans who had travelled to Switzerland to watch their team were not happy with the way that they played, thinking that they had lost the battle in midfield and failed to provide enough support to both the attack & defence.
Any side would struggle against the quality of Deco, Cristiano Ronaldo and Simão, but Turkish fans have suggested that the team would have played better if coach Fatih Terim had selected a more experience midfield. Next up are hosts Switzerland, this game is pivotal to Turkey’s hopes of progressing in the tournament.
