With the 2023/24 season in England just around the corner, now is a good time to start thinking about which teams will win their respective leagues.
The top online bookmakers rate Manchester City as 4/5 favourites to win the Premier League and it is tough to imagine them not getting the job done.
However, we think there may be better value bets to be had, so read on as we offer our top tips for the English top flight and the Championship.
Aston Villa can continue their progress
Aston Villa’s turnaround after sacking Steven Gerrard as manager last season was remarkable, with the club ending the campaign in seventh place.
Unai Emery proved to be a breath of fresh air at Villa Park, unlocking the talent in a squad that looked all at sea under the former Liverpool midfielder.
Villa have made several shrewd additions this summer and are a tempting proposition at odds of 11/4 to finish in the top six.
They are priced at 10/1 to break into the top four, which is not beyond the realms of possibility if some of the big guns underperform again.
Forest & Burnley expected to struggle
Newly promoted Luton Town and Sheffield United dominate the relegation market, and they look set to make a swift return to the Championship.
Fellow new boys Burnley have been tipped to survive by several pundits, but we have a sneaky suspicion they will struggle next term.
Nottingham Forest are also expected to be at the wrong end of the table and could be worth an interest at 11/4 to be relegated.
The best-priced 10/1 available on Steve Cooper to be the first manager to leave his post also looks tempting given Forest have a tough start to the season.
Leeds fancied to climb back into the Premier League
The three clubs relegated from the Premier League last season head the betting to win the Championship title in 2023/24.
Leicester City and Southampton are first and third in the outright market, but second favourites Leeds United appeal as the value bet in this division.
They are a best-priced 9/4 to win promotion either automatically or via the play-offs, which looks too good to ignore.
Norwich City are tempting at odds of 15/8 to finish in the top six after making several notable additions to their squad this summer.
Rotherham set for another tough season
Rotherham have bounced around between the Championship and League One in recent years and could be set to return to the third tier.
They were lucky to escape relegation last season, and odds of 15/8 to finish in the bottom three this term look to be excellent value.
The Championship will be a much tougher division this season, which will make life far more difficult for the South Yorkshire outfit.
Rotherham’s transfer business has been largely underwhelming, and they are strongly fancied to end the campaign in the bottom three.
