Troublesome Transfer Embargo lifted

Portsmouth’s troublesome transfer embargo has finally been lifted to the relief of Executive Director Mark Jacob, who’s been ‘expecting’ this decision since early December.

The decision came from the Premier League after Pompey reached an agreement with Italian side Udinese, to reschedule the payment of £3.6m still owed from the departure of Sulley Muntari.

The Premier League announced the club had no ‘outstanding’ transfer debts, giving the club the privilege to sign players on loan and free transfers.

£1.6m owed to Portsmouth from television money will also be returned by the Premier League, money which was previously withheld.

It is believed manager Avram Grant has a number of targets lined-up, the first being Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, whom previously spent the first half of the season on-loan at Portsmouth.
