Carlton Cole spent seven years with the London club, and during that time he represented West Ham on 237 occasions; scoring 59 times.
In the 2012-13 campaign Cole played 29 games, but could however only find the net twice. The man with seven England caps told his fans on twitter the following,”Life is filled with ups and downs -today is a down but I’ll be back! Carlton Cole has left the building.” He continued.”I came to East London not knowing what to expect but I’m glad I did. The last 7 years I’ve met a lot of good honest decent people. Thank You.”
Aston Villa have also been busy releasing players, with Richard Dunne, 33, Eric Lichaj, 24, and Andy Marshall, 38. Jean Makoun is also departing Villa and will join French side Rennes after a successful loan spell.
Of course the headline name on their way out of the Villains is Richard Dunne who just recently earned his 77th international cap with the Republic of Ireland.
The game against Georgia on Sunday (Dunne’s 77th cap) was an isolated high lost in a sea of low’s that was Dunne’s 2012-13 campaign. The Ireland man had a torrid time with injury last season. Sadly he was troubled by a persistent groin problem that enforced him to miss every single game.
I’m sure that the fans will be saddened by these departures. Good luck in the rest of your career to all.
