Antoine Semenyo Earns Hard Newcastle United Transfer Push Amid Alexander Isak Uncertainty

Newcastle United are understood to be pushing hard for Antoine Semenyo as they continue to hunt for a new striker.

The Bournemouth attacker has been outstanding for the Cherries and he bagged a brace in their Premier League opening day defeat to Liverpool.

Semenyo snatched a double during the 4-2 loss but despite his side going down on the day, the Ghanaian international looked excellent and put in a shift.

The 25-year-old has earned the reputation for being a strong goal scorer in England’s top flight with 22 Prem goals and 24 total in all competitions for Bournemouth in all competitions.

Antoine Semenyo on Newcastle transfer shortlist

Newcastle, FootballBlog understands, are seriously considering a move for the player although they would have to stump up a hefty transfer fee to land him as he is contracted at Bournemouth until 2030.

His last deal extension came last month with the club making sure they were secure in their business, knowing bids would come.

We told you how Newcastle were keen to add a new hitman and had considered Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea as a realistic option to strengthen with.

The Blues told Jackson he was free to find a new club and that fit with what the Magpies were looking for.

Newcastle also are keeping an eye on the situation surrounding Samu Aghehowa of FC Porto. The Spanish international was a target at St James’ Park.

Unfortunately for Aghehowa he is now unlikely to make that move any time soon after he suffered what looked to be a bad injury over the past weekend.

Another Newcastle striker option suffered injury

After shooting in a double in Porto’s opening day win over Vitoria Guimaraes on matchday one, manager Francesco Farioli named the hitman in his starting lineup to take on Gil Vicente on Sunday afternoon.

It started well enough but Aghehowa’s day lasted just 30 minutes, in the end, as he was forced to hobble off the pitch with what is being speculated is a muscle problem.

The £80million-rated star was visibly upset at the thought of what could be a long-term injury and he wept as he took his place among the subs on the bench to watch the rest of their 2-0 win take place.

Alexander Isak Liverpool transfer chaos continues

Aghehowa may not be the next man to lead the line at St James’ but it’s unlikely to be Alexander Isak, either.

Isak has been accused of bad behaviour for throwing his toys out the pram over Newcastle’s decision not to cash-in on his services with Liverpool determined to sign him.

The Premier League champions had a £110m bid knocked back and are believed to be ready to return to the negotiating table so long as Newcastle give the go ahead.

It would mean Eddie Howe would be without a heavy hitter in the number nine spot which he believes Semenyo could fill.
