Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo Rejects January Move To Premier League Rivals

Antoine Semenyo Man City

Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo has turned down a possible January transfer to Tottenham in the hopes of securing a move to a club further up the table.

The 25-year-old Ghanaian international has attracted significant interest this season.

With eight goals and three assists in 16 Premier League appearances this term, Semenyo has made a blistering start to the campaign.

He’s caught the eye of numerous top clubs, and last week it emerged that Liverpool agreed terms with Semenyo over a potential future deal.

And with a £65 million release clause, the figure needed to prise him away from the South Coast is set in stone.

But while plenty of big teams are interested, one club have been told unequivocally that the player is not interested in joining.

Antoine Semenyo Rejects January Tottenham Transfer

Semenyo has reportedly turned down a move to Tottenham in January.

Despite Spurs being willing to meet his release clause, the forward has no interest in a move.

Semenyo’s clause expires after two weeks of the January window, meaning any transfer would need to be worked out quickly.

But after a failed move for the star in the summer, Thomas Frank was prepared to revisit the deal.

However, even a significant wage increase was not enough to tempt Semenyo, who has rejected the possibility.

With Tottenham languishing 13th in the table, Semenyo’s ambition is to join a team fighting further up the table.

As a result, he won’t be moving to Spurs any time soon.

Semenyo Pursued By Both Manchester Clubs And Liverpool

As far as a January move, there are three clubs in a realistic position to sign Semenyo.

Liverpool, as mentioned are thought to have agreed personal terms.

But their huge summer outlay on the liked of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike among others means they are less likely to splash more cash mid-season.

It’s therefore MAnchester rivals City and United that are leading the race.

United are thought to be ready to go ‘all in’ for Semenyo in January, but face major competition.

Pep Guardiola’s side can offer immediate Champions League football, and a Premier League title battle.

Semenyo has made clear his desire to fight for trophies and accolades.

But if he can wait until the summer, he will have even more options.

Liverpool may be more likely to come in for him after this season, while Arsenal have also been linked.

However, with his release clause expiring, Semenyo may not wish to delay his dream move any longer.

A January exit therefore looks likely, though to which side of Manchester remains to be seen.
