Bring them on – Burnley

Every week here on BlogsFC, I am going to write a match preview article called ‘bring them on’.

This Saturday sees Sheffield Wednesday kick off their new Coca-Cola Championship campaign by welcoming Burnley to Hillsborough.

Burnley, have seen the addition of Manchester United winger Chris Eagles this week for a fee believed to be in region of £1.75 million.

The ex-Wednesday loanee has signed for the Clarets after Real Madrid failed in the Christiano Ronaldo saga and is sure to impress in the football league.

Manager Owen Coyle has established a strong side since his appointment last season, and they have a number of players to watch.

Steven Cauldwell – Defender

Cauldwell is a strong, defender that could cause trouble for the likes of Sodje and Burton. The Scottish international worked hard to regain fitness after a torn tendon last season and is now an established first team player at Turf Moor.

Joey Gudjonsson – Midfielder

Gudjonsson is a strong tackler and talented midfielder who is always capable of scoring goals. The Icelandic international netted 8 times during his time at Leicester back in 2005/2006.

Ade Akinibiyi – Striker

Akinbiyi is a tall, strong and talented striker. The ex-Blade showed this in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor last season, a game in which he gave the Owls back four nightmares.

The Cooper Verdict

I know its no good sitting on the fence for the verdict, but I can see this one going either way. However, I believe Owls boss Brian Laws will remind players how important it is to get off to good start after last years nightmare.

I’ll go for a score draw.
