Everton may lose midfielder Tim Iroegbunam on deadline day after Italian side Lazio submitted a late bid for the 22-year-old.
England under-20 international Iroegbunam may yet leave Merseyside at the 11th hour of the winter window.
The youngster has been linked with a move away from the Toffees since the start of the window.
But despite interest, an exit has not yet materialised.
That may be about to change at the last minute, though, with Lazio submitting a late bid.
Iroegbunam made his return to David Moyes’ side at the weekend as a replacement in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton.
He had been out for Everton’s last three games with injury, but had started the previous five until his spell on the sidelines.
However, he could still be leaving before Monday night’s deadline, amid major interest from Italy.
Everton are reluctant to sell any of their squad, though. Reports have suggested their asking price for attacker Iliman Ndiaye would be a club-record sale.
But if Lazio can match what Everton want, Iroegbanum may yet leave.
Lazio Submitted Improved Bid For Everton’s Tim Iroegbunam
Last week, Everton turned down a £15 million offer from Lazio for Iroegbunam.
The Toffees believe their man is worth more than that, and swiftly rejected the bid.
Manager David Moyes is not keen on trimming his squad in January, citing a lack of depth.

But the club may yet be persuaded to accept an offer if their valuation is met.
Iroegbunam joined Everton in 2024 from Aston Villa for £9m, having come through the ranks at boyhood club West Brom.
The midfielder has played 18 times for Everton in the Premier League so far this season, equalling last season’s appearance total.
Given his growing importance to the squad, it will take a substantial offer for him to leave.
How Busy Will Everton Be On Deadline Day?
Everton’s transfer business has been limited this window, but there could be a late flourish.
Young Chelsea forward Tyrique George is expected to join before the window shuts.
The 19-year-old will join on an initial loan deal, with Everton having an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

And with fullback Nathan Patterson targeted by Genoa, Brooke Norton-Cuffy may head to Everton in the opposite direction.
Fullback remains a key area of concern for the Toffees, with Sheffield United’s Femi Seriki also targeted.
It remains to be seen whether Iroegbanum will leave, but it would be a major blow for the Toffees, given his recent form.
Lazio will therefore need to pay a significant fee, something they may not be willing to do this late in the window.
