Tevez leading man, as United strike 5: Manchester United 5 – 3 Blackburn Rovers

A Carlos Teves quadruple sealed a stunning 5-3 victory over Rovers as the Reds go into the last four of the ‘youngsters cup’.

The Argentine netted in the 36th minute followed by an array of half-volleys, low-shots, and sublime skill. Nani also got in act with a powerful strike  to ensure United’s place in the semis.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who watched the performance from the stands, as a result from a couple of choice words to Mike Dean, who’s decisions, are quite frankly appalling, made 10 changes to the impregnable side put up against City, with only ‘Rafa’ keeping his place. Ben foster made his first Old Trafford appearance alongside faithfuls, Gary Neville, John O’shea, Carlos Tevez, and Ryan Giggs, who’s passing play on the night was simply sublime, assisting his strike partner, Tevez, with 2 of his 4 goals.

Incy made his first return to Old Trafford as a manaer, and it was his side that provided the first threat of the night, with a caressed ball played by Derbyshire through to Warnock, who headed with a magnificent finger-tip save to keep the home-side from going down in the space of 3 minutes.

However if the visitors thought they would be able to improve on the chance, they were sadly mistaken, when Gibson met a whipped cross by Ryan Giggs 22′ in, only to see his shot cleared off the line by Martin Olsson. Giggs was called into action again, this time trying to make space for youngster Jonny Evans, who went wide with a disappointing head.

With 10 minutes remaining until the break, Giggs was yet AGAIN involved when crossing a free kick, and this time, it met the head of Carlos Tevez, who knocked the ball into the net, causing the stretford end to go wild. Five minutes later, the stretford enders were on their feet again, from the lovely bit of interplay between Tevez and Nani, resulting in Nani’s opening goal to the campaign.

With United coasting along, Incy had to make an impact, and this came after the break in the form of Benni McCarthy who’s run, unchecked by Gary Neville, resulted in a lashed shot past Foster bringing the visitors right back into the game, however 3 minutes later, the game was once again turned on its head by a piece of stunning play by giggs, allowing Carlos Tevez to skip past the defence, until he was brought down by an unjust tackle from Andrei Oojer, a blast from the ref, a shot from the spot, the ripple of the net, and the game was all but over as Tevez converted calmly from the spot.

With the fans wanting more, Tevezproduced, only 3 minutes after the penalty, with a manouverso brilliant it was like watching Moscow all over again. It started witha Brazilian flick ending with an Argentine boot, as Anderson found GIGGS who’s stunning backheel found the Brazilian again, and Old Trafford readied themselves for Anderson’s opener, but his unselfish play resulted in another Tevez strike and this time the game truly should have been all but over.

However a streak of defiance in the Rovers side, no doubt born from Incyhimself saw United in a sticky position with 4 minutes on the clock, Blackburn trailing by 1 due to 2 late strikes by Derbyshire, however Tevez, who’s unfounded form stunned everyone in the vicinity produced his best of the night with a ‘Da Silvaesque’ half-volley, leaving Robinson no chance, and leaving Fergie with the dilemma of a lifetime
