Win or bust for Tunisia

Tunisia’s young squad have battled their way to two draws so far in this years African Nations Cup but they will have to go one better and beat pre-tournament favourites Cameroon in Lubango on 21st January.

Faouzi Benzarti’s inexperienced side have performed well so far but have struggled to create too many chances to win games. The Carthage Eagles will be heartened by the fact that Cameroon also have to win the match to ensure qualification which could mean an open game and more chances.

Tunisia captain Karim Haggui has come to the defence of his team’s performances, putting them down to youth and inexperience.

“We have a young team in Angola that is improving with every game. Chances were missed in our draws against Zambia and Gabon due to inexperience” he told SAPA.

“However, the outcome of this group is far from settled.

“We still have to face Cameroon and a win takes us through to the knockout stage.”

Oussam Darragi and Youssef M’skani are both out injured for this match, and Souheil Ben Radhia is suspended which makes the challenge just that little bit harder. One potential positive is that Samuel Eto’o, Cameroon’s talisman and captain, is a doubt for the match. The striker limped off the field against Zambia and missed training on Tuesday with a reported ankle injury.
