Everton Agree Jack Grealish Loan with Option to Buy with Manchester City

Everton Transfer News: Jack Grealish loan agreed

Everton have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Jack Grealish on loan, with the England international set to undergo a medical today.

The deal is yet to be finalised, but it will see the 29-year-old become Everton’s fifth summer signing, adding creativity and experience to David Moyes’ squad.

The loan also includes an option to buy at the end of the season at a fee in the region of £50 million.

Why is Grealish leaving Manchester City?

Grealish endured a frustrating 2024-25 campaign, starting only seven Premier League games and 16 across all competitions.

He was omitted from City’s squad for their final league fixture against Fulham and left out of the travelling party for the Club World Cup in the United States.

Pep Guardiola regularly preferred Phil Foden, Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Kevin De Bruyne, Omar Marmoush and Bernardo Silva in attacking positions last season.

Since arriving from Aston Villa for a then-British record £100 million in 2021, Grealish has made 157 appearances for City, scoring 17 goals and assisting 23 more.

His best season came in 2022-23, when he made 50 appearances in all competitions and played a key role in City’s historic treble.

Guardiola has been open about wanting to see Grealish rediscover that form. “Do I want the Jack that won the treble? Yeah, I want it… I know that he can do it because I saw him,” the City manager said in January.

Grealish might not be the only high-profile attacking exit from City this summer either, after reports emerged that Tottenham are pushing to sign Savinho.

Everton Transfer News

Everton’s move for Grealish is part of a wider summer recruitment drive.

The Toffees have already signed Thierno Barry (Villarreal), Mark Travers (Bournemouth), Adam Aznou (Bayern Munich), and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Chelsea), while Carlos Alcaraz joined permanently following his loan spell last season.

Moyes is keen to add proven top-flight quality to a side that struggled for goals and creativity last term, and Grealish’s ability to operate both on the flank and centrally could make him a pivotal figure at Goodison Park.

Ultimately, the loan move offers Grealish a chance to reignite his career with regular minutes, while Everton secure a player with Premier League-winning pedigree and big-game experience.

More arrivals are expected before the transfer window closes, although Everton have reportedly moved on from a deal for Tyler Dibling after Southampton set a high price for the teenage winger.
